Caseys General Store – Private Brands Business Manager

The Private Brands Business Manager develops innovation through new categories, items, and product lines. The Business Manager conducts business reviews and executes joint business plans with suppliers in the assigned portfolio. This role also develops and maintains relationships with private brand suppliers in assigned portfolios to drive Casey’s Brand Sales and Share. The Business Manager stays up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance private brands.

  • Lead Product Innovation efforts within the categories and suppliers in the assigned portfolio.
  • Execute new strategic initiatives for the account or assigned categories.
  • Facilitate and drive projects through the process (work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones within established timeframes).
  • Understand Casey’s strategies/priorities and be able to leverage and communicate the knowledge. Builds and maintains business relationships with supplier partners and retailer.
  • Manage the private label product development process and timeline in assigned categories with the Director of Private Brands, Category manager and suppliers from ideation to shelf: Influencing suppliers and Category Managers for actions and decisions that will result in a project meeting deadline, as well as managing the expectations of both the suppliers and Category Managers throughout the product development processes when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with private brand suppliers in assigned portfolio.
  • Develop innovation through new categories, items, and product lines. Obtain new sources of supply for Casey’s Brand product development.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships by obtaining alignment and developing and delivering on mutually established goals. Work with supplier partners and Casey’s on executing new item launches, label updates, and reformulations of product. Ensure all parties stay on track to meet deadlines.
  • Perform, coordinate, and lead the analysis and development of marketing plans; product promotions; advertising; in-store displays; merchandising strategies; and inventory forecasting in assigned categories.
  • Work with the Director, Category Manager, and Marketing on events, promotions, and new item launches. Work in conjunction with Category Managers to create, maintain, and execute an effective promotional plan for the assigned portfolio.
  • Conduct business reviews and execute joint business plans with suppliers in the assigned portfolio.
  • Participate in category reviews and keep up with the current strategy in the overall categories in the assigned portfolio.
  • Stay up-to-date on current market trends and competitive developments in order to continually enhance private brands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a creative, marketing, sourcing, or product development role preferred.
  • Prior experience in all facets of Private Brand & Branding via on-the-job development, education, and networking.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships based on transparency and mutual respect.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the proven ability to remain organized and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in performing needs assessments and making recommendations based on the discovered needs.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial thinker who can manage risks, try new approaches, and use good judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office.
  • Travel when necessary to ensure the progress of overall category merchandising strategy.
  • A valid driver’s license is required
