What you’ll do…

Senior Manager II, Sensory Science – Food

At Walmart, we help people save money so they can live better. This mission serves as the foundation for every decision we make and drives us to create the future of retail. As a Senior Manager II, Sensory Science – Food, you’ll serve as an advocate for our customers. You’ll work closely with product developers, quality managers, and merchants to ensure our Private Brands items consistently offer great quality and value to our customers. You’ll guide the sensory learning agenda for your categories of responsibility and will effectively translate sensory insights to influence important decisions. Through the scale and access of the Walmart system, you’ll be able to truly impact the business and the lives of millions of customers worldwide. Along the way, you’ll be guided by our deep-rooted culture with the support and tools you need to do your best work.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Developing customer-winning products: you’ll design & execute sensory research plans, inclusive of both qualitative and quantitative methods, to effectively guide product development from conceptualization to successful launch.
  • Assuring in-market product quality: you’ll oversee and coordinate our Private Brand sensory quality monitoring program, identifying when products require corrective action.
  • Influencing decisions: you’ll leverage your knowledge and expertise and will regularly collaborate with product developers, merchants, and suppliers to answer key business questions.
  • Building relationships: you’ll work closely with 3rd party labs and other external partners to supplement our internally executed programs.
  • Leading teams: you’ll supervise the operation of our daily associate sensory panel including scheduling, staffing plans, ballot creation, sample reviews, analysis & reporting.

Minimum Qualifications…

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Psychology or a related field AND 4 years’ experience in sensory research, consumer insights, product development, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications…

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Sensory or related field.

Expertise in Statistical Analyses or Data Visualization.

Proficiency in Food Science

Relevant professional certifications (e.g. UC Davis Applied Sensory and Consumer Science Certificate Program) or continued learning relevant to Sensory Research or Consumer Insights fields.

Experience in supervising Associates
