We’re looking for a Sustainable and Responsible Sourcing Specialist to join our wonderful Corporate Affairs team reporting to our Sustainability Manager, Human Rights and Supply Chain.

Joining our Corporate Affairs team you’ll take accountability for implementing Countdown’s human rights, responsible and sustainable sourcing strategies and work programs. You’ll help ensure these policies, and our values, are upheld when deciding which suppliers to use or which products to source, and will partner with our suppliers to protect people and planet and drive the achievement of our 2025 sustainability plan.
About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
- Communicating, managing and monitoring supplier compliance as it relates to human rights, responsible and sustainable sourcing,
- Supporting our Own Brand product development processes to ensure integration of responsible and sustainable sourcing requirements and considerations,
- Maintaining our databases and supplier data as it relates to responsible and sustainable sourcing across different platforms,
- Reviewing and interpreting information provided by suppliers including audits, remediation plans and progress reports, and work with suppliers on their correction of non-conformances,
- Providing technical advice and resolving responsible and sustainable sourcing questions with suppliers, customers, buying teams, operations, and other functional team members within Countdown, and
- Supporting the development of new responsible and sustainable sourcing commitments and requirements for Countdown as required.
About You | Mōu
To succeed in this role you’ll have a degree or equivalent experience specializing in corporate social responsibility, human rights, law, sustainable agriculture or social or environmental sciences. You’ll bring an analytical and curious mindset, able to interpret trends and work with an abundance of data to influence key decisions.
Collaborating with many stakeholders, you’ll be a strong communicator able to engage, build and bring stakeholders along our sustainability journey. It will be your passion that sets you apart, your conviction to do things right for our people and planet and the drive to really make a difference!
