The Director, Brand Management leads the brand and marketing team in delivering against annual brand plans, commercial strategies, key initiatives and portfolio objectives. This highly cross-functional role will lead, grow, and evolve a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of private brands to meet rapidly changing customer needs. The ideal candidate is a solutions-oriented, forward-thinking innovator who has experience leading marketing teams and developing talent.
What you’ll be doing:
- Strategic Analysis & Planning: you will develop and execute annual brand plans to meet sales and profit goals, in partnership with Merchandising leaders. In addition, you will create a longer-term vision for the brands, including a three-year strategic plan. The Director of Brand Management will lead, strategically connect, and advance Staple’s Product Brands strategies to address white space needs within the categories in the portfolio over a long-term and short-term time horizon.
- Brand Building: You will lead the creation of the mission, positioning, values, and personality of each brand and gain cross-functional leader alignment. In addition, you will manage strategic brand extensions and layering into new categories, ensuring all customer touch points with the brand align with the brand positioning.
- Brand Communication: you will develop and commercialize innovation and communication plans by building differentiated go-to-market launch plans and aligning those plans with the cross-functional teams. You will ensure communication plans address the needs of all stakeholders and support the growth the Product Brands and categories.
- Business Leadership: you will contribute to, monitor, and make decisions in service of the Product Brands portfolio, anticipating and balancing short-term implications with long-run brand equity considerations. You will synthesize and analyze market trends, sales and brand health data to inform new briefs or ongoing work to manage and grow new, existing, and refreshed product brands. You will lead monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews across the portfolio, identifying key opportunities or issues.
- Collaboration & Influence: you will collaborate with both internal and external partners to implement the approach to cross-category brand management and anticipate future needs. You will steer the brands, ensuring alignment among the Product Brands team, Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance on key decisions related to product brands. This includes facilitating cross-functional meetings, governing timing and action, escalating risks and delays, driving accountability, and monitoring key performance indicators.
- Operational Excellence: you will bring a solutions-oriented approach as the operating model for product brands continues to transform with a focus on focus, speed, and clarity. You will lead process improvement for the Product Brands brand/marketing function and lead the navigation of stage-gate processes to help improve governance across the phases of brand management while meeting timelines and budgets.
- Leading & Inspiring Teams: You will be responsible for building, coaching and developing high-performing teams. This will require skills in building and elevating skillsets at the individual and team level. You will instill a one team culture, with an aptitude to take bold action and challenge the status quo.

Qualifications :
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
- 8 years of experience with Brand / Retail / Marketing organizations, developing & managing brand strategies

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
