The impact of sustainability efforts in the private brands sector may be bigger than previously realized. The adoption of sustainable practices by brands and retailers is responsible for about 20% of a businesses’ financial results, according to a new study by Supply Pilot. Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG), parent company of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, is committing to increase sustainability for its Retail Brand (private brand) packaging by the end of 2028. Rhode Island based drugtore CVS Health has published CVS Pharmacy Pollinator & Pest Management policy. The new policy encourages all suppliers of Retail Brand (private brand) food and beverages to reduce the use of pollinator-toxic pesticides. The policy recognizes that chemicals that threaten pollinators are linked to significant health hazards for farmworkers and rural communities surrounding agricultural lands.
