Ten days ago, I awoke to a busy and exciting day of prep for our webinar “COVID-19: Leading with Private Brand” with 650+ registrants; there was a lot to do. Later that morning, we discovered that mypbrand.com was down. It happens occasionally, so we were not that concerned – still – the timing was terrible!
As the morning progressed, our tech team attacked the problem. The site had been hacked. We then embarked on desperate and drastic measures to solve the problem, clean and sanitize. It looked like we could reinstall our backups, repair the databases, and move on. However, by Friday, May 8th, it was clear that it would not be enough.
So, amid a pandemic and quarantine, we chose not merely to repair but to reinvent, resurrect and relaunch.
The site we launch today is the result of hundreds of hours of work and sleepless nights from our small but mighty team.
The highlights include:
New Address: After eleven years at mypbrand.com, we were able to obtain the web address myprivatebrand.com and have moved to this address. I think you will agree it’s a much easier and more obvious address. Please bookmark it and come back often.
New Design: After five years, the site badly needed a redesign. We knew we wanted to make it bold, clean, and modern. Easy to navigate, easy to read, and well designed. I believe we achieved all of those goals and created an engaging and differentiated experience.
New Speed: Over the last few months, mypbrand.com had slowed to a glacial speed. We know now that it was a symptom of a bigger problem. The new site leverages new dedicated servers, software, the latest technology to increase page speed dramatically and the latest security protocols.
New Branding: The existing logo was created nine years ago; private brand and our business have significantly in that time. Google and Amazon have changed the way we search and shop. My Private Brand, the Vertex Awards, and the Velocity Conferences have redefined the private brand conversation. As we redesigned the site, it quickly became clear that the brand and logo needed to be updated.
The new wordmark abandons the compressed type in favor of a personality-filled, expressive slab serif. [PRIVATE] maintains its distinctive brackets and shrinks in both size and weight so that the new logo boldly proclaims, “my brand.”
