Spanish Grocer DIA Launches Sustainable Personal Care

Spanish grocer Dia España is committed to sustainable cosmetics with IMAQE Naturals, a new Retail Brand (private brand) of personal care products that include shampoos and exfoliating cleansers), which are made in collaboration with Valquer Laboratories, and prevent the emission of 224 tons of carbon dioxide per year.This union between skincare and nature inspires the IMAQE Naturals de Dia, which has the endorsement of the Ecocert Cosmos Natural seal on a large percentage of its facial range. These certified natural cosmetics, whose ingredients come from renewable and environmentally friendly resources, contain 99% ingredients of natural origin, are cruelty-free, and vegan.

Sainsbury’s gives new life to clothing returns

Following a successful trial, UK grocer Sainsbury’s is rolling out its partnership with UK charity ‘Newlife’, to all supermarkets. Newlife has built its foundation around recycling, reprocessing, and reusing clothing to support 1.1 million disabled and terminally ill children in the UK.Since Sainsbury’s partnership with Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children first began in 2019, the retailer has donated 65.5 tonnes of unsellable clothing returns and faulty garments to the charity. Hy-Vee’s Publishes Private Label Tuna Supplier Vessel Report

US grocer Hy-Vee announced on Friday the publication of their Retail Brand (private label) tuna supplier vessel documentation report. The report follows Greenpeace USA’s request for major US grocery retailers to share more information about their seafood supply chain. In 2021, the inaugural Greenpeace report “The High Cost of Cheap Tuna: US Supermarkets, Sustainability, and Human Rights at Sea” found all 16 retailers surveyed to be failing in ensuring their tuna supply chains are free of both environmental harm and exploitative labor practices such as debt bondage and physical abuse. This World Oceans Day, Ahold Delhaize USA is celebrating its companies’ sustainable seafood progress, which now includes sustainably sourced seafood across each of the U.S. retail stores full assortments of seafood products. M&S Trials Refillable Private Brand Homecare Products

M&S is launching a trial of refillable own-brand cleaning and laundry products, as part of its commitment to reduce and remove plastic packaging, and offer customers more sustainable choices. M&S Refillable allows customers to choose from eight pre-filled, own-brand homecare products, including cleaning sprays, laundry detergents, fabric conditioners and washing up liquids. UK retailer Tesco and WWF have launched a new accelerator program that pairs pioneering start-ups with Tesco suppliers to fast-track sustainability innovation in the supply chain which can cut the environmental impact of food and support UK food security.Innovation Connections will address a key barrier preventing promising sustainability innovations from being adopted at scale in food supply chains, by identifying suppliers who can help to scale up new ideas and technologies.  Applicants have been paired with long-term Tesco suppliers to pitch scale-up projects that apply their ideas in the real world of food supply chains.
