Tesco Switches to Recyclable Clear Milk Caps
British shoppers at Tesco will soon see changes across its Tesco-owned Brand milk – as the supermarket works with suppliers to make milk bottles even easier to recycle. By removing colored plastic and changing blue, red and green milk caps to a clear alternative – on around 425 million bottles of milk every year – Tesco is improving the quality of recovered material from household waste and enabling the cap to be recycled back into milk bottles. Tesco’s ambitious net zero targets validated by Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
Earlier this month British retailer Tesco has outlined an ambitious plan for emissions reduction across its operations and value chain as it becomes one of the first retailers globally to have its *net-zero **science-based targets validated by the ***Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), the official body that validates climate targets. Tesco’s targets include stretching interim commitments to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its own operations by 85% by 2030 from a 2015 baseline year, absolute Scope 3 emissions from energy and industrial sources by 55% by 2032 from a 2019 baseline year, and absolute Scope 3

TEA-RIFFIC: LIDL GB Brews Up Big Change to Tea Bags
Lidl Great Britain (GB) has revealed that all its Lidl-owned brand tea bags are set to become fully compostable, helping tea enthusiasts across the country make more sustainable shopping choices. The move means customers will be able to enjoy their favorite cuppa knowing that they can dispose of the tea bags in food or green waste bins. The transition to fully compostable tea bags is expected to divert up to 800 million per year from traditional waste bins, and subsequently, landfill.
