Ingredient Costs Increases Force AEON To Raise Private Brand Prices

As raw material prices continue to rise Japanese retailer AEON, announced that it will raise prices for three of its Retail Brand (private brand) products. Aeon will raise the prices of TOPVALU mayonnaise, cup noodles, and tissue paper this month.

The price increase is 40 yen for mayonnaise, 10 yen for cup noodles, and 7 yen for tissue paper, excluding tax, of which mayonnaise ranges from 158 yen to 198 yen.

The retailer has kept prices unchanged for its more than 5,000 own brand products since September last year, while the prices of national brand have consistently risen.

AEON TOPVALU President Mitsuko Tsuchiya said, “We are always looking for ways to reduce prices rationally, and if the depreciation of the yen and the effects of world affairs ease, we would like to reduce prices immediately.”
