Agency Equator Design announced last week the appointment of Matt Caldwell to the role of Managing Director, as Phil Jones moves into the role of USA VP of Client Engagement. The firm which is headquartered in Manchester, United Kingdom, has US studios in Chicago in Cincinnati as well as three additional offices in Nottingham, Dublin and Sydney.
Now at its helm, Chicago-based Matt Caldwell joined Equator in 2017 following sales and marketing roles across diverse markets. His career in retail began in Aldi UK’s graduate scheme, after which he progressed through operations into senior commercial roles, gaining experience across fresh, ambient, produce and General Merchandise over a 12-year period – a time which saw Aldi transform the UK grocery market.
Matt Caldwell comments: “It is with immense pride and privilege that I step into this exciting role. As someone with a great passion for people and as a high energy leader, I support and empower the team to deliver for our retail and CPG clients. I’m looking forward to helping craft the next chapter in Equator’s unique story. I believe we have a truly compelling proposition. We are powered by an immensely talented global team who work as one. Together we are set for continued success in the ever-changing grocery and CPG landscape.”
Phil Jones takes the position of Matt’s former role as USA VP of Client Engagement. Phil possesses extensive experience in global operations, with a history of working in the design industry. Skilled in photography, graphics, production management, pre-press, and strategic planning, Phil joined the Equator team three years ago as Global Operations & Implementation Director at their Manchester studio before relocating to Cincinnati to open the studio as the VP of Client Engagement & Operations. Previous to joining Equator, Phil spent 10 years as European Operations Director at SGK and in leadership roles at Morrison’s, Enterprise IG, and Mars Confectionery.
Phil Jones says: “I am delighted to move into this exciting and challenging role, and look forward to motivating and inspiring our Chicago and Cincinnati teams.”
