Llama, Candy, Brown bear, Globe man, Eggplant car and Ladybug mouse – these cuddly friends form the new SAGOSKATT private brand soft toy-collection from IKEA. They’re all designed by kids that participated in the retailer’s annual drawing competition. The six designers selected this year – chosen from more than 71,000 entries across the globe – including creative and cuddly friends such as an eggplant car, a mouse dressed as a ladybug, and Globe man. To further support the belief that Play is essential to children’s development, 100% of the purchase price of each SAGOSKATT toy in the U.S. will be donated to local initiatives supporting children’s rights.
Last year, IKEA received over 71.000 drawings from all over the world in their yearly SAGOSKATT drawing competition for children, aged 0-12. ”My soft toy is a bear and during the day it rides on a dog. Good bear, soon you’ll be loved! Treat him well and sometimes watch movies together”, says Sofia, 6 years old, describing Brown bear, one of the winning contributions. ”Play is serious business for IKEA, and we know how important it is for a child’s development. For us it’s crucial to make room for Play everywhere in life and to support children that lack their basic rights”, says Nina Hughes, Range & Product Design Manager Children’s IKEA.
