Dining Al Tesco: Supermarket Treats Fans To A High-End Tasting In The Aisle

UK retailer Tesco has launched a brand-new Premium Meal Deal, offering a premium main, snack, and drink for just £5.00 for Clubcard members. The new meal deal, which sits alongside the supermarket’s iconic regular meal deal, gives shoppers even more choice when it comes to quality on-the-go food at great value prices.

Shoppers who fancy leveling up their lunch can pick up Retail-owned Brand (private brand) Tesco Finest and Wicked Kitchen mains as well as itsu, YO! Sushi and Pollen & Grace.

To mark the launch, Tesco invited two meal deal enthusiasts to be the first to try the new offering and treated them to a fine dining experience in the meal deal aisle of the Watford Tesco Extra.

With the finest cutlery, napkins, knives and forks and service from the waiter exclusively serving their table, Hannah Hoad and Greg Dwight from Essex were served a delicious, premium meal.

The pair enjoyed a YO! Rainbow Salmon Poke Bowl and a Tesco Finest Roast Beef, West Country Cheddar & Truffle Mayo Tiger Roll, along with Graze BBQ Crunch and Popped Sweet & Salty Popcorn and ice-cold sparkling drinks, served in champagne flutes. Passers-by were left bemused as they watched on as the couple enjoyed being waited on hand and foot.

Greg and Hannah, who have been in a relationship for over five years, were chosen for their long-lasting love for the Tesco Meal Deal. Averaging at least once a week, they’ve enjoyed well over 500 Meal Deals since they’ve been together – often at lunch, but the pair also choose them as an affordable dinner before a night at the theatre.

Meal Deal enthusiast Greg, speaking at the launch of the new Premium Meal Deal range, available on Clubcard Prices, said: “It’s been a fun experience to celebrate our love for the iconic Meal Deal in such a unique way.”

“We’ve always had our ideal ‘go to’ choices, but this new Meal Deal really mixes things up. There are so many new mains options with incredible flavors you wouldn’t expect, like truffle or n’duja. We can’t wait to try more of them. And the best bit is the great value, especially with our Clubcards – we love a bargain!”

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco Chief Customer Officer said: ”We know that our Tesco Meal Deal is hugely popular with our customers, and is a lunchtime staple for millions of people day in, day out. But sometimes you want to treat yourself to something a little special, and the new Premium Meal Deal gives our shoppers the opportunity to upgrade their usual lunch choices.”

“Featuring a wide range of mains including new Finest and Wicked Kitchen sandwiches and salads, as well as options from itsu, YO! Sushi and Pollen & Grace, there are over four million combinations to be tried. What’s more, at only £5.00 for the full meal, Clubcard members really can enjoy gourmet on the go.”

There are 33 different main choices and 10 brand new Tesco Finest and Wicked products on offer as part of the new meal deal. This includes exciting new ingredients and flavors such as the Tesco Finest Roast Beef, West Country Cheddar & Truffle Mayo Tiger Roll, the Tesco Finest Chicken & N’duja Wrap and the YO! Rainbow Salmon Poke.

Not only can customers pick up premium mains, but they can also choose from any of the regular snacks and drinks that you usually enjoy with a Meal Deal, including favourite brands such as Walkers, Propercorn, Graze, Cadbury, Oasis and Coca Cola.

There are also great savings to be made. In fact, Clubcard members can make a saving of up to £3.74***, when compared to buying the items separately.

The Tesco Premium Meal Deal is available now in 1,200 stores, offering a range of quality options to suit all tastes for just £5 per head with a Clubcard, or £5.50 without.
