CVS Health tackles the “pink tax” with 25% price drop
In an effort to help consumers curtail the “pink tax” Woonsocket Rhode Island-based healthcare/drug chain CVS Health will drop prices by 25% on CVS Health and Live Better Retail Brand (private brand) tampons, liners, menstrual pads, and cups. The move is designed to help close the price gap between women’s and men’s personal health products and eliminate sales taxes on feminine hygiene products. Last week the retailer also began paying sales taxes for customers on period products in 12 states — Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.
